College Credit Plus Options
College Credit Plus:
College Credit Plus was enacted into Ohio law in September 2014. Effective with the 2015-2016 school year, it replaces the Post Secondary Education Options (PSEO) program and redefines "alternative dual enrollment programs". College Credit Plus allows eligible students to take a course and earn high school and college credit that will appear on both their high school and college transcripts. Parents and students must attend a required informational session which will include the benefits and potential consequences of participating in the program.
Students must notify the Guidance Office of their intent to participate by March 31st of the previous academic year.
The CCP program is open to students in grades 7 - 12. The meeting date and time will be announced and emailed prior to the meeting.
Greeneview High School has partnered with Clark State Community College to provide opportunities for students to choose from among these recommended courses.
Students desiring to participate in the program must qualify by testing "College Ready" on the ACCUPLACER Test (testing will be provided at no charge) or demonstrating qualifying grades on the high school transcript. .
Clark State has identified several sample pathways to assist in your planning.
Students may choose to attend any college (2 or 4 year) that participates in the College Credit Plus Program.
Credit Flex – Students may pursue high school credit by creating an individualized Credit Flexibility Plan. Through this plan, students may seek credit for a correspondence or online course through an approved provider, educational travel, an internship, music, arts, after school program, community service, sports, engagement project, etc. Students need to submit their plan to the CFP Review Panel by May 1st of the prior year for approval. Students are responsible for any costs incurred as part of this program. Credit Flex applications are due by May 1 of the previous academic year.
Credit for PE - In order to receive Flexible Credit for one Physical Education course at Greeneview High School, you must meet the requirements set forth by both the Ohio Department of Education curriculum and Greeneview High School’s Physical Education curriculum. Remember that you need to have two Physical Education classes (0.50 credits) to graduate. Students who choose this option will need to be pre-approved through the Credit Flex Application process and complete a portfolio following the PE Credit Flex Rubric.
AP Courses – These courses are designed to mirror entry level college courses by offering a college level curriculum, instruction, and expectations. Students taking these courses may take the Advanced Placement Test in May and If a student receives a 3, 4, or 5, (on a scale of 1 – 5), they will usually receive college credit for the course (s). There is a fee for the AP Exam, however, Greeneview High School will pay for your first exam. Students have to take the exam to take the class. AP Courses to be offered at GHS include:
AP Calculus, AP Government, AP Spanish, AP Computer Science, AP Biology, and AP Chemistry.
Honors Courses – These courses offer an enriched and accelerated curriculum over and above ordinary high school courses. The student should be prepared to accept greater responsibility for working independently.
